DEMO SITES

DEMO SITE #1

  • Located in Valencia, Spain, the demo site consists of nine urban energy communities with the aim of leveraging digital services and tools to empower their members and managers. The nine energy communities are composed of a total of 200 end-users, including households and businesses, and with a total of 518 kWp of installed PV power and 298 kWh of battery storage.

  • SAPIENS, Ecoserveis and CIMNE

  • The demo site aims to enhance and expand energy communities by integrating advanced management tools and reducing their environmental impact while empowering their members with useful insights to optimise resource use. An integrated ecosystem will be created, combining data management, optimisation, and predictive modelling to improve quality of Energy Communities management. This will utilise energy data from PV plants, batteries and energy communities’ members and broader sources such as markets, weather, mobility, and smart city sensors.

Additionally, innovative services will be explored, including shared electrical vehicles, optimised storage and charging management, systems energy flexibility, and data-driven models to optimise EC management. Moreover, By leveraging cross-sector data, it will develop data-driven energy services spanning energy, security, climate, and finance to anticipate challenges like heatwaves or support governance decisions on finance, social impact, and climate strategies.

DEMO SITE #2

  • Located in Finland, Lappeenranta Virtual Power Plant provides digital services to empower communities and households. Lappeenranta is a city in Finland with 73,000 inhabitants. The demo site will be based on two distinct building blocks, each with 120 inhabitants, including vulnerable people. The two buildings differ in the number of apartments with various sizes (in m2) and arrangements (different number of rooms and kitchenettes). Energy consumption data of all buildings is available on the Minuenergia digital platform. Target  is, that these buildings will be  controlled under the umbrella of a Virtual Power Plant (VPP), including other generation assets and buildings.

  • City of Lapppeenrant , LUT  University

  • The demo site aims to enhance and expand energy communities by integrating advanced management tools and reducing their environmental impact while empowering their members with useful insights to optimise resource use. It seeks to integrate data from multiple sources into a smart digital platform to offer demand response options, develop interactive energy consumption visuals for end-users, expand the VPP, and promote citizen engagement in energy decision-making.

DEMO SITE #3

  • Located in the Italian Alps, the renewable energy community Green Land aims to achieve a cross-sector digital transformation tailored to a mountain community where tourism is the main economic activity. Green Land, a renewable energy community (REC) born in April 2023 in Alpe Cimbra, brings together economic, social, and cultural actors to promote energy sustainability. Involving three municipalities for a total of approximatively 5.000 inhabitants, it provides the perfect testbed for experimenting with novel digital and community-led innovations.

  • Green land , EPQ , FBK, Spindox lab

  • The aim is to implement and test a comprehensive array of innovative data-driven services using data across various sectors (energy-electricity grid-transport-tourism) by promoting energy sustainability, enhancing socio-economic well-being, empowering local businesses, engaging citizens, and invigorating tourism through a zero-emission approach. Additionally, it is also pursuing the understanding of interoperability and data analytics, to create a seamless and data-driven ecosystem that can serve as a model beyond the scope of this demo site.
